Next Level Conversations - Curriculum & Community Engagement
In this session, you’ll hear silo-breaking updates from peers leading on climate justice through universities’ curriculum design and collaborative work to address issues affecting communities well-being. In constructive presentations, experts in the field will share their experience at the cutting edge of trends - and why you should follow up to implement these action steps on your campus/in your organization. After hearing what’s new across the field, you’ll have an opportunity right away to start digging deeper by joining a smaller, peer-to-peer conversation with the experts on the topic of your choice. Can’t pick just one? There will also be an opportunity to book 1-1 or small group time with the presenters during tomorrow’s open meeting space or times throughout the next week. Topics include:
Topic 1: Educating the Next Generation of Sustainable Investment Leaders: Starting and Managing a Student-Managed Investment Fund
Topic 2: Betting on Social Progress: Breckinridge and the Social Progress Imperative
Topic 3: Campus-Community Partnerships on Climate Action: Applications of the EPIC model
Topic 4: Reinforcing Resilience: Going beyond traditional hazard assessments to bolster adaptive capacity

Policy Briefing - How to Understand, Adapt to, and Influence the Rules of a Sustainable Economy
In this workshop, participants will learn about how regulators in Europe and the U.S. are reshaping the investment and business landscape, and make plans to take action to shape and respond to the evolving policy context. Some questions we’ll answer together during the workshop include:
Who is proposing, evaluating, and enforcing the rules around the environmental, social, and governance priorities in our economy?
Which of those rules are likely to change, and how can you prepare as an investor?
How can you - as a student, higher education staff member, investor, researcher, or other stakeholder in our economy - help shape the rules to promote racial justice, environmental justice, climate action, and responsible corporate governance?
Which organizations, resources, and tools already exist to help us take action?

This will be an active discussion, with participants joining breakout groups to discuss timely opportunities for action.

Your Retirement Plan is Contributing to Climate Change and Inequality, what are you doing about it?
The higher education, foundation, and nonprofit communities are taking great strides in reducing their impacts on the planet, as well as fostering inclusive environments on campus.
Yet, a “blind spot” exists between an organization’s goals and the retirement investments they provide on behalf of its employees. Many retirement funds invest in companies with poor track records on the environment, diversity, and racial justice. This session is designed to give you a new toolkit needed to correct this and begin moving the more than $1 trillion in 403(b) in assets towards a world that fosters a healthier planet and a more just society for all.
