Neda Nobari, Vice Chair of the Foundation Board, San Francisco State University
Neda Nobari is the current Vice Chair of the Foundation Board at San Francisco State University, Former Chair and current member of the Investment Committee, Alumna of the Year 2020 and an inductee into the Alumni Hall of Fame.
Ms. Nobari graduated from San Francisco State University in 1984 with a B.S. in Computer Science. After a brief career as a software engineer, Ms. Nobari spent the next 22 years at bebe as the Vice Chair of the Board, Vice President of Design, Merchandising and licensing in addition to a myriad of other positions throughout the growth phase.
Transitioning after two decades in business, in 2007 Ms. Nobari established her private family foundation https://mozaikphilanthropy.org with a mission to democratize philanthropy through the exploration and modeling of new participatory practices with disruptive, creative and catalytic potential.
In 2015, Ms. Nobari earned her Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College while her two sons finished college in Boston. Neda’s graduate research focused on the intersection of diaspora and cultural identity of Iranian-American women which inspired her to establish the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies at San Francisco State University in 2016.
Ms. Nobari has been an integral supporter of a wide array of campus initiatives including her contributions to the establishment of the Green Fund and the Sustainable Student Investment Fund during her tenure as the Investment Committee Chair.
