Elizabeth Drake

Swarthmore College
Climate Action Manager
Elizabeth Drake is the Climate Action Manager in the Office of Sustainability, where she leads climate protection activities across the institution in support of the College’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. This includes leading the College’s award-winning Carbon Charge program, developing strategies to address greenhouse gas emissions associated with the College, and implementing projects to increase adoption of renewable energy.

A central piece of Elizabeth’s work is the Roadmap to Zero: Energy Infrastructure Master Plan, which aims to create a resilient energy system that provides reliable, safe, sustainable, and cost-effective electricity, heating, and cooling to support Swarthmore’s educational mission.
Elizabeth also plays a strategic leadership role in outreach, education, research, and projects to help Swarthmore respond to the urgency of climate change in teaching, learning, operations, and community engagement.

Prior to joining Swarthmore College, Elizabeth managed sustainability and regenerative development for Fetzer Vineyards, the largest B Corp-certified wine company in the world. Her work focused on implementing forward-thinking initiatives to meet waste, water, energy, emissions, supply chain, and social impact goals in pursuit of net positive operations.

Elizabeth holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Cornell University and a certificate in Applied Sustainable Operations from Presidio Graduate School.
